Welcome to Scouting!

In life, leaders, experts, champions, and all those at the top of their field have one thing in common: Each started as a rookie. No one reaches the top without taking that exhilarating first step. Cub Scouts introduces kids to those important first steps, and there's something truly special about this stage. It's a time filled with wide-eyed excitement, boundless curiosity, and the courage to try new things. The thrill of setting up a tent for the first time, earning that very first badge, or making a new friend at the very first den meeting, these moments are electric, and they set the tone for a lifetime of growth.

Being a Cub Scout means embracing the unknown with energy and optimism. It's about celebrating the courage it takes to try, the joy in every small victory, and the resilience to keep going after every stumble. Every "first" in Scouting - first hike, first knot, first campfire story - builds the confidence and character kids will draw on each time they become rookies again, whether that's starting a new grade, joining a new team, or one day stepping into a new career.

In Scouting, we don't just teach kids skills - we ignite a passion for learning and a willingness to step boldly into new experiences. We celebrate the spirit of accomplishment, because it's where all the best stories begin. And the truth is, no matter how old we are or how much we've accomplished, we're all still learning - again and again - every time we start something new.

At Pack 656, our aim is to help Scouts build confidence and skills to help them navigate through their lives as they continue to grow and learn. Join us for a meeting and see what we're all about!

ABout pack 656

We are Cub Scout Pack 656! We are chartered by the National Capital Area Council of Scouting America. Cub Scouts is a year-round family program. Our Pack has exciting events with activities that are fun for kids and the entire family. Our Cubs learn about important life skills, personal safety, and environmental stewardship. They take part in fun outdoor activities, get involved in their community, and learn to be part of a team. Pack 656 welcomes boys and girls from grades K-5. We meet at Fairhill Elementary School. We serve Scouts from Fairhill Elementary School, Mosaic Elementary School, Pine Spring Elementary School, and Bailey's Upper Elementary School, but we welcome everyone who wants to join. Our Pack meetings are held the 2nd Wednesday of every month in the Fairhill Elementary School cafeteria at 6:30pm. Den Meetings are held two to three times a month, typically also on Wednesdays, as organized by the den. You can also find us on Facebook. Contact the pack at cubscouts.pack656@gmail.com or see our Contact Us page for a contact form.
